Get by with a little help...

If there is one piece of advice that every bride needs to hear at some stage of the wedding planning, it is "ask for help".

These days, wedding planning is something that a lot of brides take on themselves (often singlehandedly!).
So much planning can be done on the internet or via email. And wedding blogs are filled with so many fantastic ideas and DIY projects that it becomes really easy to think you can do it all on your own.

Take it from me. I might just be an extreme example. I am a Type A, slight control freak, craft-fiend who has since become an event stylist. When I was planning my wedding, I sincerely thought I could do it all!

I was further convinced of this after reading of DIY brides that visit flower markets and do their own bouquets and centrepieces on the morning of the wedding; of brides that bake every cake on their dessert bar; or that hand sew their own dress as well as those of their bridesmaids.
I thought 'if they can do it, i can too"!!
Well.. I take my hat off to these ladies, because even with my level of obsession planning, I was never going to be able to do this! For a start: I was getting my hair and makeup done on the morning of my wedding!

No matter how much you long to play a part in every detail of your wedding, at some point there comes a time when you need to hand over some task, some responsibility, no matter how small....
That's one of the reasons why we offer 'day of' coordination / service.
We get it, a lot of brides don't want to hand over their plans to stylists. A lot of brides have their own ideas and want to feel like they've created their own wedding. We love this, we support it, we promote it.

Sometimes though, you just need someone to go to the venue for you, set something up, check that your flowers and centrepieces look right. You want someone that gets your style, but doesn't know you / isn't a guest.. coz you don't want to bother your aunt or not-so-close friend with these tasks.

We call it 'executing the plan'. It's your plan, it's your day... so feel free to tell us what you need, show us pics of exactly what you want and trust us to get it right. Seriously, just ask for help.

The proper way to party

Doesn't this little snippet just make you want to smile?  That's what it does to us.

It conjures up images of a pretty, happy, smiling bride.... The best kind of bride there is!

This is part of an inspiration board for one of our lovely brides. We'll show you the rest of the inspiration - and the final result one day!

Beach Wedding - One Theme, Two Ways

Summer has come early in Adelaide this year (yippeee!), and it's got us daydreaming of long days at the beach, lazing in the sunshine. Of course it's also got us thinking of beach weddings!

The beach location and the beach theme is incredibly versatile and can be interpreted in so many ways. Too often, we see the same ideas played out - all blue and white with starfish theming!

There's so much more you can do than that... ideas that spring to mind are -  whimsical and dreamy wedding, rustic and earthy, fun and playful, slick and modern, or even elegant / traditional styles. All styles seem to suit the beach wedding!

Today we thought we'd create 2 totally different beach vibes to demonstrate what you could do with this setting..

1. Earthy Romance

For us, simplicity, natural tones and earthy themes are favorites, and these elements fit perfectly with a water-side wedding. There is no feeling closer to mother nature than standing on the beach with sand between your toes, a dress blowing in the breeze and ocean spray against your skin.
So here's this feeling, put into pictures and turned into a damn pretty wedding.

2. Have a (beach) 'Ball'

Last weekend's visit to the Middleton Beach Huts has given us a totally different kind of beach wedding inspiration!

The vibrant colours of the huts (not unlike your favourite beach ball) would create such a fun party vibe for a wedding!  And on a hot Summer day, what more do you want than to kick off your heels and dance barefoot in a relaxed party vibe?!
We're loving the boldness of aquas, red and yellows... so here's some fun ideas we'd love to see at an Adelaide wedding soon!

So different, but we love both!
Which do you prefer??

Middleton Beach Huts

On the weekend, one half of Pod & Pea was lucky enough to spend some time at the Middleton Beach Huts on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Let me first  say: this place is as cute as a button! The village has 12 huts available for hire in total, each  with their own colour palette and personality, and they all nail the shabby chic style to a T. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home by the super friendly hosts, who made it so easy to want to recommend this gorgeous little place!

While I was there, the venue was setting up for an event, and I was struck by the fact that this place would make a gorgeous wedding venue. It’d be the perfect place to host an intimate garden ceremony, followed by a sit down dinner in the on site restaurant Blues. The restaurant can cater for up to 100 for a sit down dinner and 150 for cocktail style. In Summer particularly, the ambiance of this place would be extraordinary.

The Beach Huts would also make a great location for a milestone birthday party or other celebration…  Imagine having 30 of your closest friends shack up in the one venue,  yet still having the privacy we sometimes need on group holidays.

While we were down that way, we also took the opportunity to call into the Abp Alice Bell studio in Port Elliot. Alice is a very talented photographer and can provide valuable local knowledge for locations to have your wedding photos…. Check out her site if you are looking for a photographer in this region.

The Fleurieu Peninsula offers so many lovely wedding venues and we plan to showcase some more soon, so stay tuned.

Welcome

We Heart It
Welcome to our blog.
We hope you'll find it inspiring, informative and cozy in here!

Pod & Pea is finally live!
This is the beginning of something special and exciting, but at the same time we feel like we're already a little way along the path in our journey. Pod & Pea is the result of a long-held passion that has already experienced months of planning and research, along with hours of conversation and many a sleepless night.

Firstly, a little about us:-
Pod & Pea is the product of Jessica and Jacinta, 2 like-minded souls who met as colleagues in the corporate world.. where creativity can be stifled and lovely little details are often lost (or non-existent) among beige and khaki decor!

Add a little imagination and a shared passion and suddenly we have an outlet for that creative instinct within!

And the concept:-
We're a boutique event planning and styling business. But before you get ahead of yourself, don't start picturing chair-covers with sashes. Events are so much more than that - and we like to consider ourselves as innovative and creative people that will get to the very heart and soul of your event. We'll help make it gorgeous, make it 'you' and make it unforgettable for you and your guests.

Our style is eclectic. Our pieces are hand-picked or handmade.. and consist of vintage furniture, rustic decorations and oh-so-lovely details. Many details. We're obsessed with details.

Of course we'll share examples of our style and the items we have available for hire as time goes on... and hopefully you'll stick around.

Did I mention we like details too?
