Love, Music & Celebration

A recent trip to Montreal (the jazz and blues capital of Canada), along with the recent engagement of some super cool muso friends has inspired me to write this post.

There is no questioning the fact that all three are perfectly entwined together. I think the world would not know good music if musicians never sang about love and heart break! Music expresses more about ourselves then we realise. Most couples i know have one or two songs they love to belt out together whilst driving in the car, or hitting the dance floor. There are concerts we have been to with loved ones, sound tracks to unforgettable summers, and friendship classics that seem to blast the speakers every time we catch up with our mates. And let's not forget - there are of course the cliche "our song" situations, where no matter what, that one particular song will always remind you of that certain someone.

No great wedding, party or celebration can make claim to being amazing without amazing ambiance. Styling, lighting and (you guessed it) music all influence the ambiance of a great party. Music can add both the fun and heart felt moments to the day, making it memorable for not only you and your partner, but your guests too. Planter-Box Centrepieces

Pod & Pea has a new hire item: wooden planter boxes!

Those who know us will be aware that we love all things natural - with timber being one of our favourite things to decorate with. We love its warmth, the way it ages, its versatility (whether being used in a polished and preppy fashion, a rustic and shabby manner) and we love the fact that it is always classic.

Rustic Intimate Dinner Party

Sometimes we get caught up in the oh-so pretty elements of style that we forget just how beautiful and equally as stunning simple can be.

Back in August we threw a special dinner party for a special someone; this special someone was male and probably would not appreciate all the beautiful floral prints and arrangements we so often gravitate towards. As a results, we set out to create an masculine, yet elegant setting – if there is such a thing?!  Well it turns out there is, although I would probably not use masculine to describe the end result.

For those of us whom looove detail, simplicity can be a breath of fresh air. This setting created just that. It was earthy, rustic, and yet beautiful. This intimate dinner took place in the loft at Wanera Wine Bar, Angaston. The food and staff were fantastic, and the room provided a brilliant atmosphere! We would most certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone look for a warm and welcoming space.

Baby Shower: Kate is ready to pop

Today I went to a very special baby shower. Special because it was for my big sister, in honour of my baby nephew who is yet to grace us with his presence but already holds a special place in our hearts!

The baby shower had a blue colour scheme, since blue is for boys. We also had a bit of a 'pop' theme - since 'Kate is ready to pop'.
The invitations were sourced from etsy seller, Lindsey, and were printables.  
In line with the pop theme, we had big round balloons that looked just about ready to pop, along with popcorn, soda pop, mallow pops, lollipops, and so on..

Last week on facebook, we asked for recommendations for cupcakes for one of our brides. Incidentally, that bride booked her wedding cakes from one of the recommended suppliers: Bec's Bakes. I decided to get in touch with Bec myself, and at rather late notice, she made some cakes for today's baby shower.

The lemon curd sponge cupcakes were absolutely divine! We had blue ones with tiny little baby feet on top, as well as some plain white which I decorated with cake toppers.

Kate wasn't keen to play the traditional baby shower games, so instead I made her a book and asked everyone to provide some advice for her to look back on.. things they wished they knew before they'd had babies, tips on how to get them to sleep/eat/etc - or just little things that will help her keep her sanity. Everyone wrote her a note and slotted it into one of the envelopes in the book.

Reading the responses was great fun, with tips ranging from "Listen to your mum and aunties", through to "Don't listen to anyone, trust your gut!". Baby Panadol made an appearance as a life-saver, and we also had the rather hilarious: "Don't post annoying stuff on Facebook. Cute photos and funny stories accepted, but keep the annoying stuff to yourself or vent elsewhere!" :-)

I'm looking forward to being an aunty. If today is anything to go by, he's going to be one spoiled little boy!

Now I'm off to enjoy one last Bec's Bakes cupcake for dinner..

There is just something about antique furniture. Antique, vintage, second hand. 



Don’t you sometimes wish your Grandmother hadn’t downsized and thrown out her beautiful pieces? That your Mum had said, “hey I’ll keep that?” Or that you were around to claim them?!These are pieces that have sat there throughout time. If only they could talk; imagine the stories they could tell?  


Sentimental, characteristic or simply unique pieces, some furniture just feels right, like a piece of home or part of the family!


As a lover of incorporating things that are “so me” (or "so you") in events, I adore the idea of using unique and one of a kind pieces of furniture in weddings. It may be the dresser your Granny sat in front of when she moved into her first home. It may be a piece your Mother bought when she was 18; or something you found, fell in love with, and restored. 


Furniture has the ability to hold value, precious memories, and sentimental meaning. It also has the ability to provide a laid back garden wedding with the ‘grand factor’. And add that homely personal touch.

Light The Night

A few weeks ago now we met with a Bride who is currently planning a reception in quirky and intimate space. As we were chatting about her style and current plans she continued to put emphasis on the type of lighting she would like. “Soft and warm” were words used to describe the mood she was after. This got me thinking…. Lighting would have to be one of the most important elements in throwing a good wedding reception, dinner party or any party at all. Lighting has the ability to either make or break the party; We’ve all been to the shocking 21^st or engagement party at the local sporting club where the fluoro lights remain on all night! They ruin the mood, have you worried about your blemishes, and certainly do not create an atmosphere where the dance floor “goes off”. Remove the harsh lighting and add soft, dimly lit lights and all of a sudden you see a transformation in the party. There is a sense of relaxation among the guests and you can feel the romance in the air.

We’ve put a collection together of some pretty and romantic lighting for you to see for yourself. I look at these pictures and wish I was there mingling with my friends and enjoying a celebratory champagne! It's nights like these you literally feel like being romantic.

We like Lush Lighting from Adelaide. We have seen some of their work and these guys do a fantastic job!

Introducing "Bev" - The Beverage Station Queen

Ohhhh summer (insert sigh), how we love you! And Summer weddings. They conjure images of warm balmy nights, flowy dresses, loose hair styles, and of course, refreshing drinks! Warm weather provides the perfect opportunity to treat your guests to something out of the ordinary: beautiful punches, sangria, or even homemade lemonade – my mum’s is the best!

With this in mind we decided that our collection was missing a key piece for these very occasions!

 Everybody, we would like to introduce you to our new friend “Bev”. She has ambitions of serving drinks all over town! 

She is available to hire (along with our drink dispensers) - and is perfect not only for weddings, but also baby showers, kitchen teas, and more.

So many weddings take place at wineries these days (and for good reason, they are just so pretty). Wine barrels are cheap and they compliment these venues well if used correctly. There is always a risk that they can look too "generic", bold and out of place.. but we've found some (below) that have been used perfectly!
