Mint Condition

Last week we blogged about Emerald being the colour of 2013. But Emerald's not the only shade of green we see making a big impact next year. Without a doubt, mint is one of our picks to be the top trend in weddings in 2013.  It is feminine, yet fresh, and sits perfectly with a myriad of other colours.

You know when you decide you love something - and then you start to notice it. Everywhere. You. Go.? That's me right now with the colour 'mint'. I'm wanting clothes and nail-polish in the spearmint shades, I'm drawn to soft sorbet green paint swatches at Bunnings as I try to renovate my house, and of course I want to use it in weddings!

Pantone Colour of the Year - 17-5641: Emerald Green

It goes without saying that Pantone is the authority on colour. Every year, the company puts forward its pick of Colour of the Year. Last week, it announced the colour of 2013 to be Emerald Green (17-5641). 

Sophisticated and Luxurious, emerald is one of the true jewel tones. I have to admit I do love jewel tones (rich bold and dramatic purples, yellows, red and blues), but they aren't colours we often use in weddings - where many people opt for something a little softer.

Believe it or not, Pantone's announcement will have an influence on the products you see next year, and it is also likely to influence wedding decor. In 2012 Pantone named Tangerine Tango as the colour of the year, and after styling a couple of orange weddings this year, we think we're pretty likely to see some Emerald hitting our portfolio in 2013!!

The Great Gatsby Era

The new, the exciting, and the scandalous! Oh – how I sometimes wish I were born in an era where it felt like we were on the verge of a revolution. A revolution of style and life style!! (That said; we might just be living on the verge now…?)

The Roaring 20’s holds host to many triumphs: Women’s rights and our movement into the work force, music and scientific discovery. It was a time of rebuilding, rediscovering and reinventing! Most importantly, it was a significant shift in style and fashion in general! Beautiful head pieces, comfortable floating dresses, black, gold and champagne palettes. Oh -so glam. 

We we’re liberated!

Its no wonder we are once again feeling inspired by this point in time, how could we not?

Kate Moss used 1920's inspiration for her (gasp-worthy) big day.... and who doesn't need another excuse to look at these pics...

And Tori Spelling also went with a classic 1920s look on her wedding day. Rarely listed as a style icon, this pic of Tori is somewhat different and proves that the vintage look is totally pretty, elegant and timeless.

We imagine a 1920s wedding involving lots of crystal vases and brass pieces. Soft muted tones like cream, gold and blush. Red lips and classic roses. Perhaps a jazz band playing in the corner. It's all about glamour, old hollywood style.

NYE Inspiration: Champagne & Sparklers

NYE is nearly here! It's a much anticipated night of the year.. but it's also often dreaded as a night with too many people, too few taxis and too much pressure to have fun (forced fun is never that fun!).

That's why this year, we're avoiding the crowds. Instead, we're staying in with some of our dearest friends and are preparing for a shimmery, sparkly dinner party at home.
We plan to countdown the hours to the new year, whilst reliving the moments and memories from 2011 and enjoying great food, drink and music with our besties.

Here's some of the inspiration for our table decor. We've been guided by the gold of the ever-present NYE elements: champagne and sparklers!

Beach Wedding - One Theme, Two Ways

Summer has come early in Adelaide this year (yippeee!), and it's got us daydreaming of long days at the beach, lazing in the sunshine. Of course it's also got us thinking of beach weddings!

The beach location and the beach theme is incredibly versatile and can be interpreted in so many ways. Too often, we see the same ideas played out - all blue and white with starfish theming! 

There's so much more you can do than that... ideas that spring to mind are -  whimsical and dreamy wedding, rustic and earthy, fun and playful, slick and modern, or even elegant / traditional styles. All styles seem to suit the beach wedding! 

Today we thought we'd create 2 totally different beach vibes to demonstrate what you could do with this setting..

1. Earthy Romance

For us, simplicity, natural tones and earthy themes are favorites, and these elements fit perfectly with a water-side wedding. There is no feeling closer to mother nature than standing on the beach with sand between your toes, a dress blowing in the breeze and ocean spray against your skin. 

So here's this feeling, put into pictures and turned into a damn pretty wedding.

2. Have a (beach) 'Ball'

Last weekend's visit to the Middleton Beach Huts has given us a totally different kind of beach wedding inspiration! 

The vibrant colours of the huts (not unlike your favourite beach ball) would create such a fun party vibe for a wedding!  And on a hot Summer day, what more do you want than to kick off your heels and dance barefoot in a relaxed party vibe?!

We're loving the boldness of aquas, red and yellows... so here's some fun ideas we'd love to see at an Adelaide wedding soon!
